The big finale of the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 in Gothenburg has come to an end. We want to thank all the sailors, visitors, volunteers and our partners for helping us make it an event that we will never forget.
And don't forget - the Volvo Ocean Race returns to Gothenburg in 2018!

In June 2015 Gothenburg has the honour of welcoming competitors in the Volvo Ocean Race to their final destination. What makes this leg unique is that the finish line is right in the city and there will be free admission to the party, so everyone can cheer the boats in and join in the celebrations!

The race will conclude with an In-Port Race in the entrance to Gothenburg harbour, giving everyone a ringside view of the final sprint. The party will continue in the Race Village in Frihamnen, the heart of Gothenburg harbour, which is currently being redeveloped. The seven boats will berth here once the race is complete. You can get here easily by foot, by bike or on public transport, by bus or boat.
The Race Village will be open every day from 21 to 28 June. There is something for everyone here: giant screens with direct broadcasts of the Pro-Am Race and In-Port Race, stage entertainment, exhibitions, restaurants, bars, a large market place and opportunities to try out various activities.

The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s toughest round-the-world boat race. It starts in Alicante on 4 October 2014 and the final destination is Gothenburg on 21 June 2015.

By that time the seven boats will have covered 39,000 nautical miles and visited 10 ports around the world. This will be the twelfth Volvo Ocean Race since the first took place 40 years ago, and it will be the third time the race has come to Gothenburg. Experience this ultimate mix of sporting competition and world-class adventure, with a unique finish that involves an In-Port Race in the entrance to Gothenburg harbour on 27 June. We will be cheering on the Swedish Team SCA, which has the first all-women crew in the race since 2001–2002, along with Swede Martin Strömberg and his Chinese crew Dongfeng Race Team and all the other intrepid sailors.

Until then you can follow the boats, their crews, the race and the thrilling round-the-world route at volvooceanrace.com!

Gothenburg is a port city where the sea has always played a vital role and reaches right into the heart of the city. This gives you the opportunity to experience the Volvo Ocean Race from a totally unique perspective. Get a ringside view of the boats from the moment they enter the harbour right up to the finish line in the city. We welcome the crews to their final destination in Frihamnen, which is at heart of Gothenburg harbour.

The Volvo Ocean Race is our chance to invite the whole world to Gothenburg. The event is an important milestone that will highlight two of the city’s biggest urban development projects: the River City, centred on Frihamnen, and Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary preparations.

So we welcome you to our compact city where you are never far from great shopping, world-class restaurants, exciting places to meet and the tranquillity of the coast and islands.

Welcome to Gothenburg – a sustainable city open to the world!
